PET PORTRAIT PROGRAM
 |
On Saturday September 24th the
Rogue Valley Humane Society opened its doors (and kennels) to
the public for their 4th annual Open House. In spite of several
other significant events taking place in town this weekend the
turn out was consistent throughout the afternoon and those who
came had lots of fun.
Aside from holding tours of the
shelter itself (and all the residents) there were vendors, RVHS
merchandise, great BBQ and photo ops with Fred the Daily Courier
mascot dog.
Thanks to the volunteers from
the shelter and the shelter staff who donated their time. Special
thanks to all those who attended and pulled out their wallets
to buy raffle tickets and other goodies. It truly was a group
effort.
As always, everything we raised
goes directly to help our never ending goal of saving animals
in distress or abandonment and making sure they all find a good
home. We are a no kill shelter so some of our guys have been
with us a while and will be until they are placed... maybe with
you?
Many changes, all for the better,
have taken place at our shelter in the last couple of years and
those who came out saw them first hand. If you haven't been here
for a while stop by and visit. You can also arrange a private
tour in advance (during business hours) and who knows, maybe
you'll find the new love of your life.
Volunteers Diane and
Kenway Mead manned the traveling RVHS store.
Board members Fred Friedman
and Rich Steed cooked up the burgers and dogs.
Fred, the Grants Pass Daily Courier mascot is a welcome
addition to any event. Here he poses with the shelters mascot
(Pistol).
With passion, purpose, and integrity,
Canine Angels

and providing a better quality of life through a canine connection.

Missing is D'laina.
For the first time, Petco had their booth at the open house and
brought along a lot of goodies available at their stores.
The local Verizon rep
was on hand to answer cell phone questions.
Margaret Forsberg, DVM from the
Valley Animal
Hospital was on hand to give $5.00 vaccinations to community
dogs. Dr. Margaret and the VAH have been huge supporters of the
RVHS and we highly recommend them for your pets care needs.
Getting in the mood for Halloween.
Be sure to pack up the family and come out to our 2nd annual
RVHS Haunted
Barn - Insane Asylum.
Gypsy got every ones attention
when they found out she is 17...she was adopted from RVHS 15
years ago!
The RSVP Serenaders set up in
the Gary Mills Memorial Pavilion and proceeded to do what they
do best... sing.
Throughout the gazebo there are
stones honoring some of the shelter's success stories like Freedom
and Truman, and memorials for those gone.
To make our Gazebo Pet Park even
more special we are now offering custom Memorial or Honorary
Stepping Stones to be placed in a prominent spot within the landscaping.
