Since 1959, The Grants Pass Active
Club has held Boatnik every Memorial Day weekend in Grants Pass,
Oregon. The activities start Thursday evening in Riverside Park
with the Davis Shows Carnival. Saturday morning is the well-known
Boatnik parade featuring local organizations including the Rogue
Valley Humane Society. Aside from being tons of fun, it gives
very positive exposure to the society and usually results in
several adoptions. For those who couldn't make it this year,
here are some photos of our large crew.
Although the parade didn't start
until 10 AM, by 8:30 the RVHS float was in the staging area and
our valuable volunteers, RVHS President, Susan Beldman along
with several board members and of course, the dogs were on hand
and ready to go.
Shelter Manager, Margaret Varner
as usual had everything under control including her dog.
This beautiful gal is
more than ready for a good home.
We did manage to get one decent
group shop of all our parade dogs. Some were already part of
a loving family and some are still looking for one.
Patriotic Pugs
Waiting for the call
to roll....
Off on the seven block stroll
down 6th Street with the curbs packed 5 deep with appreciative
citizens - young and old.
The walkers and other volunteers
passed out free samples of pet food and RVHS information handouts.
