Untitled Document Helping Our Community Four Paws At A Time
TAILWAGGING, PURR-FECT SUCCESS! Surpassing last year's inaugural affair, RVHS's second annual Fur Ball was held on June 11 at the Grants Pass Golf Club and every penny from this wonderful event will go directly to care for the dogs and cats at the shelter. The weather was pictureperfect, the band, Critical Mass from Williams set the lively, fun mood for the evening and Rob Androy and his talented staff served a dinner that people are still talking about!
Our extraordinary donors provided plentiful, highquality items for the auction, raffle and silent auction. The display on the terrace was highlighted by the beautiful green of the golf course and guests mingled and relaxed. After dinner, Lance Nickerson of A-1 Auction Company kept everyone entertained and engaged during the live auction.
As the evening's festivities came to a close, the smiles and and warm goodnights made it plain to see why so many people had come together for the love of the animals and commitment to the care the shelter provides.
Thank you for making Fur Ball 2011 a memorable night of helping our community . . .
four paws at a time. The guests for the second annual RVHS Fur Ball were welcomed at the sign-in table by Suzanne Fien and Tanya Allen.
Once inside the very classy club house restaurant the guests were treated to some great sounds of Critical Mass.
Many made the full bar their first stop. Outside there was viewing of all the auction items (live and silent) along with the door prizes. Our supporters really stepped up with some very nice articles this year.
For the second year in a row the Valley Animal Hospital and the Petco Foundation stepped up as major sponsors. Their continued support is invaluable.
The Grants Pass Country Club made a beautiful venue and is home to one of Southern Oregon's nicest golf courses.
The shelters resident dog whisperer, Scot Roberts. Inside the room was starting to fill up. Stephanie Varner and Diane Mead Cyndi Crofoot and Maria Becket from major sponsor Valley Animal Hospital. Ex-board member Heather Hanson and current President, Susan Beldman and volunteer Jeannie Steed.

RVHS volunteer Rich Steed made a great Master of Ceremonies. Throughout the event the several RVHS video programs played on the big screen. Stephanie, Margaret and Randy Varner, and their best friends Cyndi and Lee Crofoot who also helped set up for the event and Lee helped to get flowers at a discount from Safeway.
At 6:05 Margaret announced dinner. The food looked great and tasted even better. Each table had a lovely flower display. The long distance award went to June Peterson's brother, Larry Grant from Kamloops, British Columbia Canada.
Larry and Ex-board member Larry Peterson. Ex-RVHS VP June Peterson and Ex-board member Mary Hanson. Both these ladies served the RVHS well for several years.
Lance Nickerson did a great job as auctioneer. After last years Fur Ball Stephanie Varner picked up the nickname "Vanna" and once again she did a fine job of presenting the auction items.
The autographed custom Ziggy Marley skate board brought a lot of action. This incredible painting was the high item for the night brought in $675.00. Rich Steed and Cyndi Crofoot: The last feature of the night was awarding the door prizes which were very nice in their own right.
And with that the entire RVHS family - the board, employees, volunteers and supporters thank all those who made this event an unqualified success. The money earned will go a long way in our ability to give our animals the very best care possible until they find a forever home. We hope to see everyone and more back next year for Fur Ball 2012.
