Daily Courier Article

It was hoped that the weather would be good enough to have the ceremony outside in the Gary Mills Memorial Pavilion but this Oregon and this time of year if you hope it won't rain it almost surely will. Thus the office area of the shelter served as a chapel of sorts and by 3:45 PM was pretty well full of friends and well wishers.

Presiding over the ceremony was Rev. Marcia Griffin.

The Daily Courier was present to cover the ceremony and did a nice story in the Monday paper.

Standing for them was Ken and Kandy Meckfessel.

Barbara Brown was escorting Lady Mead.

Dogs are included in most anything that happens at the shelter.

Diane read her vows while Kenway chose to sing his. Thankfully that's not his day job.

Lady Mead was included when the couple promised to give her the best care possible for as long as she may live.

Josh (shelter staff) was the Videographer.

Part of the ceremony included Kenway and Diane pouring 3 cups of sand into one bowl signifying their new bond including Lady Mead.

I do, I do, whoopie!

The Meads were introduced as man and wife.

This wedding was unique right down to the cake which was a tasty cookies 'n cream served in cat litter boxes (new of course).

There was a lot of socializing following the ceremony.

The newest member of the RVHS Truman Fund team was present and got a ton of attention. On 01/27/10 Ace was thrown over the fence at the RVHS with a badly broken leg. He was rushed to the Vet where the leg was set and put into a cast. Ace will be in recovery for about 8 weeks at which time he will be ready for a good home. This guy is a REAL sweetheart in spite of what he's been through.

Erin Natalicchio arrived after things calmed down to report the happy event for KTVL-TV 10 News. Her story aired that night and she did a great job.

Erin interviewed Kenway and Diane then got some footage of their wedding dance.

Ace took in all the goings on with interest and was very comfortable around all the visitors.

As things wound down Diane had a chance to go through all the wedding gifts that were actually for the kids at the shelter. Besides food, blankets and toys over $200.00 was donated to the shelter.

Many thanks to Kenway and Diane Mead for thinking about the animals at this special time and all of us at the RVHS wish them a long and happy marriage!
